Hi! In this entry we are going to talk about out day visiting some of the most famous museums in Krems, Kunsthalle Krems, Karikaturmuseum Krems, and Landesgalerie Niederösterreich, on the 9th of October, 2020. We went there as an assignment for our Incoming Austria subject and we had a really good time!
We went walking on the morning to the part of the city where the museums were located, and we started our museum tour:
Karikaturmuseum Krems: First we went to the Karikaturmuseum in Krems. This museum is a original contemporary museum with works by cartoonists and satirical illustrators spread over 3 floors. In the ground floor more modern and satirical, pieces can be found, and in then in the higher ones, a showroom showcasing a permanent exhibition of Manfred Deix’ work is placed. You could also find some rooms that displayed comic illustrations, from characters like The Smurfs or Fix and Foxi. We really enjoyed our time in this museum, especially the comic illustration exposition, since we found it nostalgic and fun. We also liked the section of the museum where you could draw your own pictures tracing them on a paper.
Kunsthalle Krems: After that, we went to the Kunsthalle Museum, a large museum of modern art with audio guides for educational visits, gift shop and events. In there we saw some different expositions that played with different materials and perspectives to created multiple and unique works of art. The part that we enjoy the most, was at the end of the museum, where an interactive room could be found. There the visitors were able to experiment with props, objects and drawings that were within reach of the attendants.
Landesgalerie Niederösterreich: To finish our day, we visited the Landesgalerie Niederösterreich, a museum that contains different kinds of expositions, from more classical and traditional pieces of art, to a more contemporary and controversial point of view. We really enjoyed the higher part of the museum, where you could find a viewpoint of the city of Krems.
If you come to visit this museums, we recommend you to buy the joint ticket because it is cheaper and it is easier if you want to visit all of them. We recommend you this experience since is a cultural way of enjoy your day at Krems!
